Gifts of Service

"Having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us" (Romans 12:6). In Romans 12:6-8, Paul lists several gifts that God gives to His people: prophecy, service, teaching, exhorting, giving, leading and showing mercy. Each one is to be used in its own way: giving with generosity, leading with diligence, showing mercy with cheerfulness. These gifts supernaturally enable us to do the work of the Kingdom. This category belongs to the wider section on Ministry & Service, which also covers the callings listed in Ephesians 4:11 and the manifestations of the Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12. Together they show that every child of Yahweh has a part to play in serving God and others. No separate articles have been posted here yet, so this page introduces the gifts through Paul's own words. Ask the Father which gifts He has given you, and how you can use them to build up others. To go further, read "The Purpose of Ministry," which explains ministry as humble service in the name of the Lord Jesus.
