The Name of Jesus
The Name of Jesus is closely tied to the preaching of the Good Message. When the people of Samaria "believed Philip preaching good news concerning God's Kingdom and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women" (Acts 8:12). The apostle John tells us that our salvation lies in this Name: "that believing you may have life in his name" (John 20:31). He writes again so "that you may know that you have eternal life" as you believe "in the name of the Son of God" (1 John 5:13). Learning about and experiencing the Name of Jesus, also known as Yeshua, God's Son and Christ, brings us into greater union with Him, and through Him with His Father and Spirit as well. This section's study, "The Meaning of Jesus' Name," shows how His Name reveals Who He is as sent by Yahweh the Father. Start there to see why so much of the New Covenant is centered on His Name.
