Repentance

Repentance is the first teaching of the Word of Christ. Hebrews 6:1 begins its list of first principles with "repentance from dead works." The word itself means "to change one's mind," so to repent from dead works is to change our minds about doing things that have no life in them. It is the doorway into everything else God has for us, which is why it comes first. This section looks at why repentance is the very beginning of Christ's Word to His disciples. Its study, "The Preparing Message of John," shows how John the Baptizer's call to repent prepared the way for Christ and His Good Message. Repentance is not just feeling sorry. It is a real turning of the mind and heart toward Yahweh, which opens the way to faith toward God. If you are just beginning your walk with Him, or want to return to the foundation, start here. Then continue to the next teachings in order, beginning with Faith, as listed in The Word of Christ.
